Designers
Astrid Andersen and Caroline Gardner
Astrid and Caroline are studying at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London within the Fashion Menswear and Menswear Knit departments respectively. Astrid gained her BA in Fashion from Teko Design and Business School in Denmark, and Caroline obtained her BA from the Winchester School of Art in the UK. Their ambition is to work with creative freedom within the fashion industry.
Cecile Bahnsen
Cecile is currently studying for an MA in Fashion Womenswear at the RCA, after having earned an undergraduate degree in Fashion Womenswear from the Danish Design School. She has worked as a direct assistant and print designer for John Galliano Paris, and has also created designs for Christian Dior and the Royal Theater, Copenhagen. Cecilie describes her personal style as “elegant simplicity,” and her ambition is to work for one of the Paris fashion houses.
Courtney McWilliams
Courtney is currently studying Fashion Menswear at the RCA. She earned her undergraduate degree in Fashion at the University for Creative Arts, in Epsom, UK. She has worked for Michiko Koshino (Yen Jeans), Julien Macdonald and Bora Aksu, and has styled celebrities including Holly Willoughby and Coleen Rooney. Whilst studying at the RCA, Courtney has also been approached to collaborate with a leading sportswear design company. Her ambition is to launch her own high street label.
Damion Le Cappelain
Damion is studying Menswear at the RCA specialising in footwear design, and earned a diploma in Footwear from the London College of Fashion. Damion has a graphic design background, having designed websites and music packaging for various bands including Basement Jaxx. Damion’s ambition is to develop new concepts in footwear, such as footwear creations designed for an art space or exhibition. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music and spending time with friends.
Kathleen Conners
Kathleen is currently studying for her MA in Fashion Womenswear specialising in footwear design. She holds a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Manchester and has interned with footwear designers Tracey Neuls and John Lobb. Her ambition is to have her own studio and work with laboratories to apply their research to fashion footwear.
Miyoko Kamijo
Miyoko is studying Fashion Womenswear at the RCA having gained a Graduate Diploma in Fashion Womenswear at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design. Before coming to the UK, Miyoko studied Womenswear Clothing at the Japan Women’s University. Miyoko has worked with LVMH brand Celine and design houses Tata-Naka and Bora Aksu, she describes her style as modern, colourful and ready-to-wear. Miyoko’s ambition is to work as a designer in a fashion company.
Poppy Cartwright
Poppy is currently studying Fashion Womenswear for her MA at the RCA. She gained her undergraduate degree in Fashion from Northumbria University and has worked with designers including Jens Laugesen, Marijan Pjoski, and Michiko Koshino. Poppy enjoys travelling in her spare time and dreams of one day working for the Balenciaga fashion house.
Robert Huth and Simone Sommer
Simone Sommer is currently studying for an MA in Fashion Womenswear at the RCA, after obtaining her undergraduate degree at the University of Applied Sciences Pforzheim in Germany. She hopes to have creative freedom in all of her future endeavours.
Robert Huth is currently studying Fashion Menswear at the RCA and earned his fashion diploma undergraduate qualification from University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg in Germany. In his spare time, Robert enjoys travelling and he describes his personal style as “purity, modernity and efficiency with a twist.”
Zara Gorman
Zara is currently studying for her MA in Womenswear, specialising in Millinery, at the RCA. Zara has a background in brand marketing, but since changing careers, she has worked for Philip Somerville, milliner to the Queen, and as a commercial designer for high street stores including Marks and Spencer. Her ambition is to collaborate with a couture house or leading fashion brand and to continue experimenting with interesting materials and techniques. Zara’s hobbies include visiting exhibitions,
watching films, reading and travelling.
